Barbara Anderson is a Director at Herren, responsible for advancing mission-critical initiatives and maximizing taxpayer value through disciplined analytics and identifying key levers to improve program performance. Barbara advises senior defense leaders, catalyzing cross-agency and joint-force efforts to enhance operational effectiveness in complex environments.

Her recent work includes serving as an advisory panel member for Forward Defense at the Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, addressing strategic concepts for improving the U.S. Navy’s decision advantage and effectively executing Distributed Maritime Operations (DMO) in increasingly contested maritime environments.

Barbara’s contributions have strengthened operational performance across multiple government agencies, including the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Department of Labor, Internal Revenue Service, and Federal Trade Commission. She currently serves as a Counselor at the Atlantic Council. Barbara holds a Bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, a Master’s from American University, and professional certifications in Organizational Design, Change Management, and Design Thinking.
