Jeff Herren spends his time between his farm in Remington, Virginia and his company offices in Washington, D.C. He is currently CEO of Herren Associates, Inc., an engineering and management consulting firm.
Soon after graduating from Mississippi State University in 1979 with a Bachelor’s in Industrial Engineering, Jeff went to work for Atlantic Research Corporation’s Gainsville, Virginia manufacturing facility. At Atlantic Research Jeff developed, implemented, and improved manufacturing processes for solid propellant rocket motors, composite materials, and liquid propulsion systems. After transitioning to an engineering company working at the U.S. Navy’s White Oak Laboratory, he joined strategy and technology consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton as an engagement manager to develop, implement, and validate new business processes for Puerto Rico’s national import and duties tax department.
Jeff left Booz Allen Hamilton in 1989 to start Herren Associates, Inc., a company dedicated to maximizing the value of every taxpayer dollar. Almost three decades later, he continues to partner with federal government clients to drive operational improvements and manage performance. He has worked in a variety of settings to manage multi-year procurement programs, review highly complex system integrator proposals, and develop long-term investments strategies for government executives. While Herren Associates, Inc. has enjoyed steady growth, Jeff acknowledges he is still learning and is quick to credit his experience as an industrial engineering undergraduate with the confidence to launch an entrepreneurial career.
With Jeff at the helm, Herren Associates, Inc. has consistently ranked on the Inc. 500 list of fastest growing companies in America. Jeff holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from Mississippi State University. He earned his Master of Business Administration in Finance from George Washington University. Jeff is an advisory board member at Virginia Tech, was named as a Distinguished Fellow at Mississippi State University Bagley College of Engineering, and is a member of the International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association, American Society for Quality, Association of the United States Army, and United States Naval Institute.
